Group B by Group B

http://ift.tt/1UbPob1

In 2008 British Championship rally driver, Nick Rowland, walked away from the sport to pursue a career as a film director. However his passion for the sport remained a consistent in his life and it was inevitable that he would bring this remarkable sport to the big screen. In the history of cinema, there has never been a film made about rally driving and it was going to take someone with the same tenacity found within rally drivers to try. Group B is Rowland’s first test at the genre. Despite its A-Level cast and strong production value, Group B was made at the National Film and Television School in London, UK. It was Rowland’s graduation project and was made on the allotted budget of £14,000. Since its premiere at the Melbourne International Film Festival, Group B has screened at more than a dozen festivals around the world and was nominated for a Student Oscar as well as won the Royal Television Society’s Student Award for Best Post Graduate Fiction. The filmmakers hope that the film’s success might lead to a future feature.

Gentle Angry People by Alex Bohs

From the floral-covered steps of City Hall to the sweat-drenched dancefloor of Precinct DTLA, we Angelenos stood together (over 2,000 in fact) to honor the members of our fellow LGBTQIA family in Orlando whose lives were cut senselessly short over the weekend.

The range of mourning (some choosing silence, others spoken word and a few using dance) from all walks of life wholeheartedly touched me. In fact, the bittersweet beauty of it all riveted me so much I decided to share some of my experience via video.

„We are a gentle angry people“ indeed.

We have made our visibility known in numbers as we mourn, but now let’s make sure to keep that momentum as we act (in honor of those who are no longer able to fight). Get involved via everytown.org/act. ‪#‎DisarmHate‬
