BreakingPoint by Martin Lapp

The Phenomenon „hysterical strength“ is a display of extreme strength by humans, beyond what is believed to be normal, usually occurring when people are in life and death situations. We witness a mother giving birth to her child. Rather than seeing things on a realistic level, we follow things happening on a more metaphorical side. The focus of the action is the challenge of birth, which presents itself as an extreme situation in which it becomes literally a matter of life and death.

This is my Diploma Project BreakingPoint.
From the Idea to the final film it took about 1,5 years including half a year of preproduction with an extensive work in Animatics and Previz and about 8 months of postproduction.
A big THANK YOU goes to the great team and Filmakademie.

An Ode To Jon Comer by Don’t Sleep Productions

In the mid-nineties, a skateboarder named Jon Comer gained notoriety on the international scene. Despite having a prosthetic leg, Jon climbed the pro ranks and skated at the highest level. To this day, Jon continues to inspire generations of adaptive skateboarders. Here is one of their stories.

Born without hands and missing a leg from the knee down Oscar Loreto Jr. faces challenges few can relate to. Oscar was introduced to his passion of skateboarding by a picture of Jon Comer at an early age. Tired of being treated differently in traditional sports, Oscar found solidarity within the skateboard community.

Watch how one man’s courage trickled-down to inspire generations in „An Ode to Jon Comer.“

A G A I N by Nico Gao

If you can’t die, what will happen?

“AGAIN” is a 2D short animation that explores the idea that life is a series of meaningless routines. The protagonist attempts to escape from this endlessly repeating world by committing countless suicides, but he never successes. Even the sufferings are still part of the cycle of repetition. Finally he realizes that inner happiness is the best way to achieve the freedom he seeks.

Make Inishturk Great Again by MEL Films

This little Irish island has a big Donald Trump problem.

Even in the best of times, escaping the grind for a small foreign island seems a preferred choice. And the 58 residents of Inishturk, a charming, heavily sheeped island off the west coast of Ireland definitely prefer it. But things may be changing for that sleepy island community soon. When Trump’s political campaign gained enough steam to make his opponents nervous, this little Irish island went viral with a rumor stating that any Trump refugee looking to escape his presidency would be welcomed in Inishturk. Turns out a lot of people took that rumor seriously.
