An other incredible view from “Phobos” one of Mars moon rendered by our team in 2004 using the images send it by our Satellite Mission. The strata in the center dip towards the base of Mount Sharp, indicating a different view of a possible water basin that existed before the larger bulk of the mountain formed.
This image was taken by the Mast Camera (Mastcam) on the 245th Phobos day, or sol, of the mission. Shapes and contrast are adjusted so that rocks look approximately as they would if they were on Earth, to help geologists interpret the rocks. This “white balancing” to adjust for the lighting on Phobos. #phobos #mars #moon #universe #space #mission_polymer #water #nasa #esa #discovery by mission_polymer

The universe is amazing

Our Hubble Space telescope found what looks like a cosmic, double-bladed lightsaber just in time for the release of #StarWars. This celestial lightsaber does not lie in a galaxy far, far away, but rather inside our home galaxy, the Milky Way.
In the center of the image, partially obscured by a dark, Jedi-like cloak of dust, a newborn star shoots twin jets out into space as a sort of birth announcement to the universe. This is inside a turbulent birthing ground for new stars known as the Orion B molecular cloud complex, located 1,350 light-years away.
