When Victor #Hasselblad created his legendary camera, I don’t think he ever planned on it being used for a photograph like this! For those who don’t know, the Hasselblad was the camera chosen to be taken on all of the U.S. space flights by #NASA. I used a #500C with two #Honeywell #880 strobes. One mounted on each side of the camera using a custom holder fabricated by my dad and I. I had some serious lighting power. In the outdoors where light just drops off, it helped. Shot using #Kodak #TriX, my #BlackAndWhite #Film of choice back then. I used #Microdol to develop it, it gave me a little better grain pattern than #D76 developer which was more popular. La NASA anunció este fin de semana que la nave InSight, que tenía planeado un lanzamiento en marzo de 2016, ha sido suspendida indefinidamente debido a una filtración en una sección de los instrumentos primarios.
Esta misión serviría para estudiar el interior de Marte y añadir información a la que actualmente recolecta el robot Curiosity. La fuga se descubrió a inicios del verano pasado y los científicos de la NASA creyeron haberla reparado. Sin embargo, nuevas filtraciones surgieron y los creadores de la InSight continuaron arreglándolas.
Lamentablemente, después de unos exámenes de último momento para probar la integridad general de la nave, se descubrió que la InSight no podría sobrevivir a las condiciones difíciles del Planeta Rojo en su estado actual.
La NASA dijo encontrarse comprometida para encontrar una solución, pero al parecer no estará lista a tiempo para 2016. Y es que al parecer, los lanzamientos desde la Tierra a Marte sólo son favorables durante pocas semanas cada 26 meses debido a las posiciones relativas de los planetas.
Esto significa que incluso si la NASA encontrara la manera de parchar las fugas en algún momento del próximo año, el único lapso de tiempo del mismo en que podría hacer el lanzamiento sería del 4 al 30 de marzo.
Esta no es la primera vez que la agencia ha tenido que posponer un lanzamiento importante. En 2008, la NASA retrasó la misión Mars Science Laboratory, en donde iba el Curiosity, por dos años enteros, pero afortunadamente, al final los resultados obtenidos por la misma hicieron que cualquier tristeza por su demora se olvidara por completo.
