Shot in Tijuana, Mexico over the course of three days with a Sony A7SII – Sola is a raw, candid portrait of a “stranger in a strange land.” The film follows Mimi Elashiry’s character as she wanders the city’s streets, clubs, beaches and back alleys. Mimi is far from home, an outsider and drifter. She uses dance instead of language as a means to communicate and engage with her environment.

**Winner of Worldfest Huston International Film Festival 2017**
„Travelling Through Brush and Ink“ is a stop-motion animation of a little modern man traveling through four significant ancient Chinese paintings, transforming himself into animals and plants, and becomes part of the nature. Each painting represents four important stages of landscape art in Chinese history. Based on the original paintings, we built the sets and animated little character inside- all frame by frame. The animation is the opening film of 2016 annual exhibition National Palace Museum Taiwan.

Hubble Uses Gravitational Lens to Capture Disk Galaxy By combining the power of a „natural lens“ in space with the capability of NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope, astronomers made a surprising discovery—the first example of a compact yet massive, fast-spinning, disk-shaped galaxy that stopped making stars only a few billion years after the big bang. via NASA http://ift.tt/2t2PLCd

Roller Coaster India by Yuribert Capetillo Hardy

“Roller Coaster”

During my trip to Kolkata, India I could only think of one word: Roller Coaster.
This film Rollercoaster is the visualization of my feelings, fears and emotions. And therefor probably not the same feelings other people will have while visiting this country.

I’m a Cuban filmmaker born in Havana, living in Holland. During my childhood in the streets of Havana I’ve seen many things. But compared to 1 week India I realized that my life in the streets in Havana weren’t that bad after all.
The one thing that stays on my mind was a little baby sleeping alone in the streets, which made me think of my own daughter who grows up protected and loved.
The energy of this country, the spirituality of the people and the spark in their eyes makes this the most special trip I made in my whole life.

Thank you India for the opportunity to allowing me to film you with all of your beautiful people.

Warm and special thanks to 1000childrens.org for giving me this opportunity which will stay with me for a lifetime.

The Typist by Kristine Stolakis

From the archives of the “queer Smithsonian,” San Francisco’s GLBT Historical Society, comes the forgotten history of a gay Korean War veteran tasked with writing the military discharges of outed gay seamen. The Typist details a conflicted clerk’s participation in discrimination and his divided allegiance to homosexuality and heroism.

The Typist has toured in festivals internationally, inspired a feature length Buzzfeed article on LGBTQ military experiences, screened at the National Gallery of Art, and played on Alaska Airlines.
