I kept seeing photos of this #geminidsmeteorshower online and it intrigued me to go shoot last night. I saw a few but didn’t get any cool images of them. I missed the good show by a day or two. But here’s what I learned: the meteors are traveling though our atmosphere at 22 miles per second. That is insane. The second, and crazier thing about them: they are burning up at about 60 miles from the Earth’s surface. That means the meteors that we see are only about as far away as the White Mountains that you can easily see all of from Mammoth. I saw somewhere that a house gets hit by a stray meteorite every few years. I’ll be ready for the next one. #mammothcreatives #minaretphoto #weownthenight_ca #EOSM3 by minaret.travel
