This is a photo of the Little Ghost Nebula or NGC 6369, a planetary nebula located 2,000-5,000 light years away in the constellation Ophiuchus. Planetary nebulae form when a sun-like star’s outer layers expand out into space whilst the core of the star shrinks leaving a white dwarf. The main ring is around one light year across and glows due to ionised Oxygen, Hydrogen and Nitrogen.
