For today’s #philomathchallenge2016 , I learned what Mars atmosphere is composed of! But before I get into that, can I just point out what an absolutely stunning pic this is of Mars sunset?! Like WOW. And to think man will soon be able to witness it for themselves…well sorta. The atmosphere of Mars is about 100 times thinner than Earth’s, and it is 95 percent carbon dioxide. Here’s a breakdown of its composition:
Carbon dioxide: 95.32 percent
Nitrogen: 2.7 percent
Argon: 1.6 percent
Oxygen: 0.13 percent
Carbon monoxide: 0.08 percent
Also, minor amounts of: water, nitrogen oxide, neon, hydrogen-deuterium-oxygen, krypton and xenon…. So basically it’s not exactly breathable
But it’s still amazing nevertheless!!!!! #philomath #philomathmaniac #science #astronomy #mars #missiontomars #sunset #planet #sciencebiatch #athmosphere #geology #physics #nasa #sun #astrophotography by philomathmaniac

Seasonal frost commonly forms at middle and high latitudes on Mars, much like winter snow on Earth. However, on Mars most frost is carbon dioxide (dry ice) rather than water ice. This frost appears to cause surface activity, including flows in gullies. via NASA http://ift.tt/1LZCz3H
