Daryl Cunningham’s graphic novel (comic book) deals with „science denial“, the phenomenon where people consciously ignore scientific truths. The climate change sceptics, the homeopaths, the healers that fight cancer with chiropractic moves and the idiots that doubt evolution in favour of intelligent design (amongst whom George W., a.k.a. Bush 42) are obvious examples. The strength of this comic book is: Cunningham shows how these fake theories were started by often corrupt „researchers“ that took money from lobbyists and falsified the research data to fit the desired conclusion. Example: some people think that vaccinations cause autism. This medical scare was started by Andrew Wakefield. He was paid $675,000 plus expenses by a lawyer looking to file a law suit against the pharmacy companies and filed a patent for an alternative vaccine that was supposed to make him rich. The chiropractic techniques were developed in 1895 by a dude without any medical training but with an interest in phrenology and magnetic therapy, all of which is bogus. #comics #comicbooks #graphicnovel #science #medicine #evolution #NASA #homeopathy by ivo.vynckier
