Earlier today, we posted an image of the Red Planet; this post complements that by showing progress being made building the rocket that will power us there. More than 50 pieces of hardware (and counting!) were completed during 2015 at NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans for the Space Launch System’s (SLS) liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen tanks. Currently, every single piece of the #SLS rocket is in production preparing for its first flight on Exploration Mission-1. The launch of SLS and #Orion is scheduled to lift off from historic pad 39B at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center (@nasakennedy) in 2018.
